Overview#
Budapest Tourist (“we”, “us” or “our”) operates www.budapesttourist.com. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, how it is used, and the rights you have over your data, including your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Information We Collect#
Automatically collected data#
When you visit the site, our hosting provider and third-party services may automatically collect:
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring URL (the page you came from)
- Approximate location (country or city level, derived from your IP address)
- IP address (processed by our hosting and analytics providers)
Information you give us#
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you.
We do not run user accounts, comments or a newsletter, and we do not sell your personal data.
Cookies and Similar Technologies#
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Analytics cookies: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (which pages are read, how people arrive). This helps us improve our guides.
- Affiliate cookies: when you click a link to one of our partners (GetYourGuide or Booking.com), that partner may set a cookie on its own website so it can attribute any booking to us and pay us a commission. These cookies are set and controlled by the partner, under its own privacy policy.
- Embedded partner widgets: some pages display GetYourGuide activity widgets, which load content and scripts from GetYourGuide’s servers.
- Preference storage: the site may store your light/dark appearance choice in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies will not stop the site from working.
Third-Party Services#
These providers process data on our behalf or when you interact with them. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Cloudflare: hosting and content delivery (privacy policy)
- Google Analytics: website analytics (privacy policy)
- GetYourGuide: tours and activities (privacy policy)
- Booking.com: accommodation (privacy statement)
Some of these providers may transfer data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Legal Basis for Processing#
Under the GDPR we process personal data on these bases:
- Consent: for analytics and non-essential cookies, where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, running and free of abuse, and to reply to messages you send us.
How Long We Keep Data#
Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Analytics account (no longer than 14 months). Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your Rights#
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Complain to a data protection authority. In Hungary this is the NAIH (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság); you can also contact the authority in your own country.

Children’s Privacy#
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
